the possibility of micro finance

Kimberely mentioned a couple of things on the topic of my market idea one interesting thought was the implementation of micro finance schemes.

micro-finance has evolved as a need-based policy and programme to cater to the so far neglected target groups (women, poor, rural, deprived, etc.). Its evolution is based on the concern of all developing countries for empowerment of the poor and the alleviation of poverty. Development organisations and policy makers have included access to credit for poor people as a major aspect of many poverty alleviation programmes.

Taking the stregnths of bondi markets.

The Bondi Markets are part and parcel of the local community and Bondi life. For locals, Sunday mornings means a visit to the beach, a wander through the Markets and a coffee down the road. The Bondi Markets are a place to mix it with the Bondi crowd, shop for bargains and take up the atmosphere. But they are much more than that.

The Markets provide local designers, artists and craftspeople the opportunity to sell their work direct to the public. They act as a launch pad for budding entrepreneurs and anyone working in the creative industries.

The Markets also allow local not-for-profit groups and organisations access to a free stall at the Markets to assist with revenue raising and for raising awareness.

A lot of our local residents have joined the Markets as stallholders clearing out their garages; going overseas or just spring cleaning.

The School Canteen operates on every Market Day and raises funds for the School and other local community groups by doing Sydney’s best sausage sizzle and offering light meals and cold drinks to Market visitors.

The Markets also generate revenue for the Bondi Beach Public School which uses the funds for many of its educational programs, equipment and facilities.

So as you could start to see earlier I started touching on the idea of 2nd hand and recycled clothing I wanted to look at some kind of shop or range of shops which manages the sourcing and selling of these items for a cause I wonder how I could use this idea but in a way which was much more original.

After finishing my first community project with Sky Juice and Oxfam. I decided that I was not going to touch anything directly associated with any third world and developing countries. I just think I could take more control of somthing which I have a first hand intrest in. I first wanted to tackle the whole “cool” aspect but it was way to board and after alot of thought I decided that I shouldnt try to lable cool in any way what so ever.
